The building is a winning entry by HLA in Denmark, Batteriid Architects and Att arkitektar in an invited ”design and build” competition held in the years 2004 – 2005. It is Icelands National Concert and Conference Hall, containing many conference- and concert halls of various sizes, restaurants and offices. The Symphony Orchestra of Iceland will have its residence in the building.
